Description

Just as in dermatology, techniques designed for the rejuvenation of the female genital area have evolved hand-in-hand with the increase in average life expectancy. The natural causes of ageing are concentrated primarily in the vaginal tract, which tends towards a general atrophy, especially as a result of menopause. The problems that patients complain of in the post-menopause period are caused by the fragility, irritation and even pain associated with vulvo-vaginal atrophy and dryness of the vaginal walls. Since in these conditions the discomfort is destined to increase, the quality of life of the women affected tends to diminish in parallel with the symptoms, with a severe impact on their emotional sphere and sex life.

Up to now, the only recognised treatment was hormone replacement therapy, a method which also has serious drawbacks and consequently cannot be used for long periods.

Now a unique concept has been transformed into a method that can help to fill this gap in the maintenance of the trophic conditions of the vulvo-vaginal area. The new SmartXide2 system guarantees reliability and performance, exploiting a special type of CO2 laser source specifically designed for this type of treatment.

The use of a special type of pulse (the DEKA-Pulse or D-Pulse) creates small islands of denaturation of the vaginal tissue surrounded by tissue left unaltered (fractional treatment). Since the vaginal walls consist of a special type of mucosa (also known as “false mucosa”) it is essential to use an extremely precise type of pulse, which is neither ultrapulsed (too "cold" and deep) nor superpulsed (too hot and too superficial) or again, smart-pulsed. DEKA-Pulse is the perfect answer for such treatment, vaporising only a small part of the mucosa (the most keratinised) and then spreading the correct degree of heat to generate a controlled denaturation. In this way the regeneration of the tissue is stimulated without trauma and with the correct amount of light energy. This control is absolutely crucial to avoid scars and fibrosis in such a delicate tissue with a high regenerative capacity.
